Default Lotus Eagle

Might this be a Cayman competitor from Lotus?

Lotus Eagle

CAR has supposedly scored the first (and only) picture of the Lotus Eagle ahead of its unveiling at the London Motor Show next week. A 3.5-liter Toyota V6 mounted amidships, producing 276 hp and 250 lb.-ft. of torque will power the new 2+2. Performance estimates are sketchy right now, but assuming Lotus holds with tradition and keeps the pounds off, the 0-60 time should be below five seconds, with a top speed approaching 160 mph.

Price is estimated at 45k GBP and before everyone bemoans that it will cost $90k, the Cayman S starts at 44,250 GBP in the UK.

It looks pretty interesting, I wonder if it will make it over here. I also wonder why the low power output from the V-6? If Toyota can get 300+ from the same engine for the IS, why couldnt Lotus do the same?

Perhaps to leave room for an Eagle S?

Probably not a Cayman fighter, per se, as it is a 2+2.

IMHO, that design study is not attractive.

needs more power out of the 3.5L, but I'm sure it's nothing the aftermarket tuner companies can't fix.

huh. I guess I'd consider this alongside the porsche, but not if it was stripped down to the bone like the elise/exige...which it probably will be.

Looks good, but I think I actually like the Elise look better. Looks like a Tesla with GT-R-like roofline..
