Probably not a Cayman fighter, per se, as it is a 2+2.

IMHO, that design study is not attractive.
"As well as being sold in a 2+2 configuration, the car will also be available as a purely two-seater, the space in the rear being allocated to luggage storage."

huh. I guess I'd consider this alongside the porsche, but not if it was stripped down to the bone like the elise/exige...which it probably will be.
"Inside the leather-lined cabin, drivers get to enjoy amenities previously thought frivolous on the Elise/Exige, including storage bins, cup holders, blue LED lighting, air conditioning, traction control, tire pressure monitoring and a Alpine stereo with a seven-inch screen, Bluetooth connectivity and iPod connections."

-> It looks fine for a 2+2, I wonder how will people fit back there. But anyways, I dont think that the Eagle is a Cayman fighter but more of an TT competitor. Just look, 2 doors and a tiny 2 seats.

-> Plus that pic makes tha car the same size as the Elise, I bet it will be significantly bigger in person. Maybe the almost the same size as the DB9 or similar to the old Z31 300ZX.

Why is this immediately NOT a Cayman competitor? It is a $70k sports car with a mid-mounted V-6 engine. What, simply because it has a +2 (which can be removed for luggage storage) it immediately get shuffled into TT competition?

With 276hp, a curb weight most likely below 2900 lbs, and expected stellar Lotus handling, not to mention a more exotic flavor given it isnt as common as a Porsche and I think that this would be an excellent Cayman fighter.

I know that if (of when) I am in the market for a car in this price range I would consider the two.

Does Lotus have a connection with Toyota?

Just curious as to why they use their motor instead of say .. Honda
