Hehe! That guy looks bigger than the car itself. CG, your wife is tall!

Thanks guys I appreciate the feedback. I really like that car. I still think that qualifies as an owned pic though.

I was able to drive my friends around the block a few times and I will tell you never put the top down if you think it is going to rain...Its takes about 10minutes to put on.....Plus I would compare the interior to the ariel Atom...There is nothing and even for me the shifter was alittle too low to the ground and I am 5'2...Personally I would just SuperCharge your S2000 and keep your TL...If your looking for more kick that is...

jaystyles662 it's that bad? I dont know, I want to test drive it whenever I'm ready . If it sucks I will definitely not get it. I wanted to do this to it.
http://www.prototyperacing.com/dynok20b.htm Tell me that isnt the nastiest headers you have ever seen. I love the rsx type r engine, talk about kick. This guy teamed up with hondata. And now he is offering this kit with the S2k engine mated to the type R tranny. If the elise sucks i'll probably get another s2k the 06.

I timed myself. I can put the top on in just under a minute. The only difficult part is getting it out of the bag if you didn't roll it tightly.

Before you do business with Prototype Racing, do a search on seloc.org and elisetalk.com. There are many people that claim to have sent money and gotten either nothing in return, or a collection of poorly made parts that never came close to making the claimed power.

I was just speculating on what can be done with the elise. I have a friend of mine that can get a brand new 0miles rsx type r engine and tranny for really cheap. Before I would spend that kind of coin to pay for a kit like that, I would definitely do my research. Their are alot of engine builders out there that are shady, I didn't know that joe has a bad reputation. You learn something new everyday. I appreciate the info porkrind, thats why I love this forum. There are alot of knowledgable people here. Not like acurazine where they have been talking about the same mod, the aem intake for the last year. That forum sucks. How do you rate the elise on a scale of 1-10, since you obviously own one. I really like it's looks. Is it worth the close to 50k? And once again thanks for the feedback.

Go to The Collection and sit in one. I think you will fit but the key is getting in and out of it. And the Elise is an awesome buy at $50K.

Is it worth it? To me, hell yes. If a meteorite fell on it and I got the check for the insurance, I'd get in line to by the same thing tomorrow. But it is still a car with a very limited focus. If you're on board with it's strengths and weaknesses, then you can have an obscene amount of fun. If you're expectations aren't aligned with the designers' intent, then you're gonna hate it. A lot of people bought one based on how it looked on the lot, hated living with it and sold it. I put my money down years ago before I even saw it and never got a test drive, but since I knew what it was about I've been completely happy. Best advice I can give is to take a good long test drive and also hang out some at elisetalk. There's some very realistic commentary there. It's not entirely a love-fest.

I use my car as my daily driver for the commute, grocery shopping, take the dog to the park, all that. Works fine for me. But I also was motorcycle-only for several years so just the idea of not arriving at work cold and wet is a luxury to me.

As far as power mods go, apparently there's going to be all kinds of Lotus-branded stuff coming soon, up to and including a supercharger that won't void the warranty. After the last few trackdays though, I'm not thinking about more power anymore. Driver skill is the weak point here.

Bottom line: Is the Elise better than the S2000 (my previous car)? Nope, it's just different.

note: 2 to 3k under list seems to be the going deal these days.
