Default LS7 in a Solstice any one?

Hot Rod Magazine and GM's performance devision team up to build a LS7 powered Solstice.

Part 1

Part 2

Car is fugly but I like the idea. I bet this thing would smoke a Vette but we all know GM will never allow that to happen.

What's the point? How much lighter than a Z06? Not much, I'd wager...

From the article:
And to up the ante even more, we added a Hot cam from GM Performance Parts (GMPP) and tri-Y headers to allow the engine to blast out roughly 600 hp. The car will weigh less than 3,000 pounds when it is completed and ready to run, so it'll be fast.

I was too lazy to read the article. What's the Z06, 3100 lbs? Unless they stripped out the Solstice, I doubt it'd come under 3,000 with the regular NA Ecotec weighing around 2,850 lbs. Less than 150 lbs x-tra for a 7L V8, much bigger brakes, 6-speed tranny (I assume), beefed up drive-line (I assume, again, cus I'm too lazy to read the article), bigger wheels and tires, home-made body kit, roll bar, etc. I doubt it...

Yep, all your questions are answered in the article, again.

I'm not gonna read it, so I guess I'll never know. Oh well... But since I'm at work, maybe I shouldn't really blame laziness...

I read some of it the other day in hot rod magazine it it ran 10.9 in the 1/4 and spanked the vette. They also said it was cheaper to buy a zo6 then it is to build this car custom. I think it is pretty cool car.

I don't think it's fugly at all. Looks pretty kick ass to me, even has a bit of AC Cobra appeal to it. Love it. Now sell it for ~$40k
