Default M3 v GTR

I know the other poll with the Z06 / Cayman S also.

But that clouds the water some as people want a 2-seat and may go for the Z06 or a 3000 lb mid-engine car (CS) but take those away...

The M3 and GTR both have 2+2 and both are more or less heavy (35xx to 38xx lbs).

the M3 has the advantage of less weight, can get a 3-pedal MT, more status (BMW v Nissan) and may be slightly cheaper (? unknown at this point).

the GTR has the advantage of greater power/TQ / AWD and some people would say the DSG-trany.

Looks can go either way.

I would pick the GTR (DSG and AWD are both high on my list) at this point but don't rule out the M3 if it's more magic or fun to drive.

I honestly believe the BMW will be more ''fun'' to drive. The GT-R will be much quicker. 3.5ish versus. 4.3seconds to 60mph. Perhaps BMW's DCT might shave off a couple tenths. The M3 has always been a jack-of-all trades car. It didnt do one thing great but it did everything well. But if I had to pick, it would require a nice looooong drive in them both.

Btw, I'm still not getting why people fantasize about driving a 70k sports cars in the snow? I mean its great to have the ability ''in case'' you REALLY need to. But wouldnt you rather take an SUV or wagon instead. I know people whose 35k s2000's have never seen rain. Dosent the salt and the like from the road cause a beating after a while?

Salt is what I'm worried about.

Can someone answer me if washing the car with hot water will damage the car or not?

When do we change the name of this forum from Car Talk to GT-R Talk?

Or maybe it's GT-R International instead of S2K International....

Although I haven't driven the GTR, on paper it seems like it is everything the M3 is and more.

Why not include a 911 in the 2+2 mix?

I know that the MSRP will be vastly different...

But the reality is that GT-Rs will be hard to come by and there will be very little discounting on them for a long while.

You could buy a certified 997 911 (or even C4S) for a similar price.
