I'm thinking the M3 will be significantly cheaper. But if not, on paper, I'll take the GT-R please!

I'm still not getting why people fantasize about driving a 70k sports cars in the snow? I mean its great to have the ability ''in case'' you REALLY need to.

But wouldnt you rather take an SUV or wagon instead. I know people whose 35k s2000's have never seen rain.
I'm not sure what you mean about 'people want to drive the GTR in the snow'. I just point out that it's AWD and has a 'snow mode'. In theory you can drive it better in snow than most sports cars.

I don't mean drive it fast which I don't do in snow, but I do drive my S2000 in snow/winter with snow tires. I'd imagine the GTR would be a better DD than a S2000 (I don't think many will say otherwise).

IMO some people want a car that is better to drive if necessary in snow/rain if some snow comes up when you aren't expecting. before I got snow tires on my S2000 I had a small bit of snow un-expected and had a devil of a time getting home.

In seeing both at the LA Autoshow this past week I will take the GT-R. Hell, I would take the GT-R over the Z06. For anything under $100K that car just blows it all away. In person it really does have presense.

Wow! You really make me want to see it in person now. People who've called it ugly from pictures and videos will be unexpectedly blown away too?

GTR definitely looks more menacing and I'm starting to really like its look. I never really liked BMW anymore after they shaped it round with an exception of 335i. I still like the look of R34 the best though . Best looking GTR eva~

On paper M3 always has some better looking pictures and GT-R does look kinda ugly. But the real thing? M3 could be easily mistaken for any regular 3-series, while GT-R really stands out and has a very unique styling and could be mistaken to be nothing else. GT-R looks very good indeed. I would take the GT-R just for the look itself, let alone the performance advantage GT-R has over M3.

not sure which I'd pick, but I here's some of my considerations.

M3:
4 door available
Maint included
N/A
more reliable?
lighter
likely cheaper

Gtr:
Higher perf
rarer
lots of elec toys
