Huh. 230 on a 1.8L. Does this mean Honda's engine is beat for power/liter ratio? (Consumer cars, that is).

And, I don't know much about Mazda reliability. Any Miata viewers got something to say here?

Probably turbocharged if they're putting out that kind of power. If they say it starts at 230hp and can be bumped up to 300 hp, that means forced induction is probably a part of the standard equation. You can't bump a 1.8L motor easily to 300 hp unless you have a race-spec setup with ultra-high revs (way more than 9000 rpm), amazing air flow and high compression. And that kind of motor would cost a fortune to guarantee reliability (not that Alfa ever worries about that ).

EDIT

Turbocharged in the 4C so probably a milder turbo setup for the small roadster.

This pretty much sums up the whole post.

I honestly cant think of how this car would fail. Mazda has been able to keep to weight down with the mx-5, so I'd be surprised if this thing ends up weighing more than 2600lbs. Plus the platform for the 4C is already awesome. This should be a real winner
