Mazda RX7 Successor.

Man I hope they are way off with that rendering because it is ugly and already looks dated. I hope it resembles the RX-Vision concept because that was a beautiful car.
I personally wish Mazda would make an MX-7 that looked like the RX-Vision with a 8k rpm 400hp 4cyl with vtc and twinscroll turbo price it at 40k and call it a day. The rotary is cool but I don't think everyone cares about it as much as Mazda does them selves. Look at all the people putting V8's in their RX-7s.

A new RX definitely has potential, but if it's really going to cost $80k I just don't see it faring well against the competition, even if it's a great car.
I'd like to see a 300hp, sub-3000lb, FR layout, 6MT RX for $35-40k.

Not sure how that's possible, the RX-Vision concept car was unveiled less than 1 year ago and is the first and only RX-7 replacement concept Mazda has shown. It's a real concept car from the actual company, unlike all these renderings that essentially mean nothing.

WHY DO THESE ARTICLES KEEP HAPPENING? WHY, GOD? WHY?!?!?!

Wasn't the old car around $60k in today's money? It'd be great if it could hit that price point again but that's a very competitive segment.

Looks fine to me, and all the specs look nice on paper. But the price and performance equation is going to have to be a little bit better than that...
But then again people are clamoring to buy a $30k RWD coupe with 200hp....

Agreed. That's a hole in the market that I think they would do well to fill. You could say that the 370Z fills that hole, but it's overweight. Wouldn't be difficult to best the 370Z. Something over $50k is a big mistake I think. Mazda just will not be able to compete with the performance offered by the Corvette or Mustang Shelbys. A BRZ on steroids would be perfect for Mazda.
