Does anyone know what class the RX-8 will be put in for Auto-X?

when i saw the rx8 my first though was that mazda couldnt come up with their own design so they ripped off some of the s2000 design and made a foor door sports car? am i the only one who sees this comparison? headlight, especially taillights look just like our car.

actually, the way i see it, for a rotary engine at any given moment, there are 3 chambers undergoing different stages of a cumbustion cycle.

Remember that the RX8 is not twin sequential turbo charged like the RX7 so I am sure that it will be more reliable than the 3rd Generation RX7.

Most the 3rd gen RX-7 problems came from the turbos themselves. The wiring was complecated and an way too many hoses were used to make the system sequential. Also, the intercooler was too small as was the radiator. Many times, rubber hoses would come off from the extreme heat.
Steps for an reliable RX-7
1. Silicone hoses.
2. Larger radiator
3. Larger intercooler
4. Simple single turbo system

If I were buying one now though, I would go ahead and get the motor rebuilt and street ported with new apex seals to insure that the internals wouldnt go bad on me in the process.

N/A roteries were quite reliable but no 3rd gens were N/A.

I'd expect the RX-8 to be just as reliable as any other car, but to expect a car to be perfect in it's first year is unrelalistic. I'm sure it will have it's share of first year problems just as any other car, the S2000 included, has. Finding someone to work on a rotary might be hard though...hopefully, Mazda will train their technicians better this time around.

1.5L rotary engine with 9000 rpm redline pushing 247 horsepower. Seats 4, and costs $26000.
It looks kind of cool, too.

I was surprised that they scooted the RX8 to 60 in 5.9 sec. Not bad.

I think it is very cool. It will be a true 4 seat sports car, if there is such a thing. I would love to have one from what I have seen so far.
