If I had a need for 4 seats, I would be looking at it. Very nice lines.

I participated in a focus group last yr. There were about 8 people in my group and the Rx8 did not fare well. The prototype was there as well as the S2000, TT, Celica, RSX a bmw and a lexus.

The RX8 seemed to be a car that didn't know if it wanted to be a family car (suicide doors and rear seat) or a sports car.

We had a few ex RX7 owners there and they were not happy.

I don't know how the 4doors and extra seats will play. Personally, I care less about image. I liked that the previous M3 had a 4d option.

But I suspect that this might have a "neither fish nor fowl" impact. Most who want a sportscar want one that looks like one (ie, 2d, 2 seat). Most who look for 4d will want real practicality, not a half attempt.

Still, I think it'll do well at least at the start. Most new bright shiny cars with this kind of impact do.

When I saw the RX8 going around the track, I thought by the way the front end looked that it could be mistaken (by some) for the next generation S2000.

Why do people keep thinking that Mazda is owned by Ford? Ford only owns LESS THAN 10% of Mazda. So not every Mazda car is related to Ford. Damn! Very very few Mazda cars share engines with Ford, and that's it; the new Mazda 6 for example.

Again, Ford only owns less than 10% of Mazda Corp., hence not every Mazda car is related to Ford; in fact, very very few. Let's all get that straight, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

One more note: Nissan is also not owned by Renault. Renault purchased about 30% of Nissan Corp a couple of years back. Hence 70% of Nissan Corp is still Nissan. 90% of Mazda Corp is still Mazda.

Honda and Toyota are doing TOO WELL to be bought by anyone, even at ANY percentage.

Nissan takes over Renault in two years i heard on Auto news.
And i think Ford owns like 30+% of Mazda.

actually, the way i see it, for a rotary engine at any given moment, there are 3 chambers undergoing different stages of a cumbustion cycle.
