iv heard rumours that they are coming out with a MS rx8 which is turbo'd putting around 280hp and 2.3L...

if that acutally happens.. it'l be insane

I don't think they will turbo it, mazda is scared of turboing the rotary.

 

Bad luck with the third gen. How many autotrader cars do you see that haven' had the motor replaced or need to? Not many.

 

I read in R&T it was only going to be a minor bump in power something to the effect of 250-ish hp. Not sure where you read this but if they are porting out the engine, and putting a turbo on it and only getting 40 hp that is a huge joke, unless they are lowering compression drastically in anticipation of aftermarket modification.

Also, the 3rd gen. turboed rotaries were a nightmare to maintain. Many, many lost their apex seals because of the heat generated by the turbos. The engine just didn't seem to be designed for turbos in mind. Major modifications were needed for a reliable high hp rotary.

 

Read www.rotarynews.com. The NA Mazdaspeed RX8 is the Japanese version. The US version is likely to have a supercharged rotary, so no turbo. Look for it to show up at autoshows within 14-18 months.

 

so based on mazda's hp rating history, we are really looking at 170 hp and 110 tq
