Default MB C32 AMG Reliability?

So, local dealer has an 04 C32 w/20k on it for $31k, seems like a solid deal to me being that they are low to mid $50's new.

I'd prefer on M3, but not for an extra $10k.

First question is why do they depriciate so much compared to an M3 or S4. Next is are they unreliable.

We have a second car that is a C230 sport and its slow as hell. Fiance's father will buy it from us for $22k with only 10k miles. I figured for another $9k the C32 is a lot more car.

Thoughts, any experience with these cars?

had one for a couple of years and 40,000K....no issues for us.

no M3 though....meaning, it's a little on the "soft" side.

but, it's a super-fast, easy cruiser with 4 doors.....

sounds like a good deal to me. Get the extended warranty to be safe.

A C32 is a HUGE step up from a C230 and easily worth the $9k.

I had one. So many problems I sold it after a year. ABS, ESP, supercharger belt, where a few I can remember. The main problem with the car is I never felt like I was driving something special. The interior isn't any better than the C230, in fact it looks cheaper because of the lack of wood. There is also a little hesitation when you punch the gas. Overall a horrible car and made me to never head to a Mercedes dealer again. Buy the M3. I always thought my 330i was a better driver than the C32 and that had over 100hp less.

The difference is price is not too substantial so I would say go for it.

going up to a decent M3 of the same caliber as that C32 means a huge price jump. M3s in similar shape would go for the mid 40s, which makes it a little less obtainable. I know since I recently was in the market for a car in the high 20s and was willing to spring up to the low 30s for one..

I certainly would have stretched for a M, but not THAT far.
