Default Miata as a daily driver?

So I'm getting close on getting a 1999 miata. I know the S2k is a car you have to be careful with in the rain. Is the Miata the same way? I have a feeling it's the tires that are 50% of the problems, while the other half is the driver.

Is the Miata an easy car to handle at the limit and easy to correct?

I personally have not spent much time at all in the "new" Miata, but I have a very good friend that has one as a daily driver. He drives it rain, snow, whatever the weather, and he claims it's absolutely fabulous (with the right tires of course.)

Right. Sometimes FWD is a false sense of security.

Though I could go for a CR-V with Realtime 4WD.

If you're referring to the Miata, I believe it's RWD.

I had 1990 Miata. They're tough car. My Miata gone threw some crazy mod.
First it's was Sebring SC then FM2 that got me in alots trouble so i had to put
her back to JR intake, race beat header and exuast. When it's got stolen back in 02
she has 160k on the clock with no problem what so ever. And beat the hell out her!

With any car, just have some sense when you drive in wet weather.

I use a 94 Miata as a daily driver. They're pretty fun. It was raining today and I took the Miata out to buy new tires.... Slid all over the road wearing out the old ones, I did it for fun though. The car is very easy to control and easy to correct when it reaches it's limit.

I think the Miata is too similar to the S to get as a second car, especially if you are looking for a winter driver. Why not get something that offers the utility the S lacks, like a Jeep? Its good for winter, and you can take it off road, unlike the S.

A woman that works in my building daily drives one. She seems to do ok in the winter with snow tires.
