I bet the pizzas are piping hot if it's being delivered in a ripping S2000!

Anyway we've had our '08 MCS since new an it's been a fun little car...practical too! We have friends in the city with this car as the only car in the household and it does newborn duties just fine. I do question the durability of the car...little things have gone wrong like the door latch cable getting knocked loose making it not possible to open the door from the inside... The possible engine issues are worrisome as well. 90mi of city driving per day is a lot on a car...perhaps your original plans to stay in the Honda family is a good idea?

Fit! I did some shopping and the Fit won hands down. I didn't need another fast car or one I'd be tempted to mod. I just needed the space, and I just don't like too big of a car.

If you're having a kid, you'll quickly grow tired of having a 2 door.
The Mini just won't have enough room for you, the significant other, the child, and the child's necessities. Also, using a baby seat in a 2 door isn't fun.

A friend who has kids and thought they could make it work with a 2dr, regretted the mistake.

I spoke with a CarMax salesman, and he offered a manual transmission equipped Fit for $14,998. It has less than 1,000 miles on it!
I'm going to speak to him about it some more later. As of right now, I'm still searching for other vehicles, trying to see what I can buy with a good monthly payment.
Don't they start at $15,100 MSRP? Seems to me you should be able to get a brand new Fit for less than $14,998....

Also, below that same price range new, the new Mazda 2 and Ford Fiesta are getting good reviews and have marginally better fuel economy than the fit.

Dude, do NOT go to Carmax. They are a rip-off dealer for lazy people who can't haggle.

I'm texting you right now, don't you **** up on me Umar.

My g/f was all hung up on Minis for a long time.

After a while though the Mazda3 started catching her eye and it falls into basically the same category. Maybe worth a look?

- 5-door hatch.
- comfy
- sporty/decent power (167hp for 2.5 non-mazdaspeed)
- decently good gas mileage (33+ highway)
- decently roomy in the back seats
- nice hauling capacity

She got hers brand new for $19800 OTD and that was with the Moonroof/Bose package. 0% for 60mo with no money down. Payment is something like $330/mo.

Doesn't sound like a great deal, you can get a new one around that price. Fit is like driving a turtle though, the Mini-S is like a rocket ship compared to it but the price difference is pretty big. Think a new fit is around 15 and our Mini with a few options (LSD, Sport Pack, Tech pack) was 26.

Used Mini prices have really come down recently though. There seems to be a bit of a glut in the market for them. I picked up my used 07 Cooper S for about what a new Fit would cost in July 2010. It's a 36k mi, one-owner car, still under warranty. Mine is a lightweight model with Sport+ suspension, LSD, blacked-out interior, multi-function steering wheel, and heated seats.
