Motards/dual purpose
Looking for some feedback and opinions on Motards/Dual Purpose bikes.I currently own a 06 gsxr600,but it's just becoming too much of a bike for me anymore,Plus I like the idea of the dual purpose as it fits in with my future housing/property plans.
My biggest concern is power,as I'm a bigger guy(6ft. 210lbs)and wondering if the 250's are gonna be too doggy.
Thanks

Consider the Suzuki DRZ-400 SM. I've got one (last 3 years) and still like it.
It's not the fastest but it's ridiculoulsy light, nimble and just fun on backroads. Tops out at 90 mph but gets there quickly.
For city, backroad or service road riding you don't really need more power.
It's a wheelie monster and it handles twisties like nothing else you've tried.
It's pretty tall (compared to your gixxer 600) so check that prior to serious consideration.
Cheers,
Daniel

My 09 Husqvarna 450 SMR, 55whp, 250 pounds with fuel in race trim. Tards rock, but you will hate getting on a freeway, and prepare to get pulled over a lot because they turn you into a real hooligan. If you want a good bike that willl hold up to a lot of miles, get a Suzuki DRZ as a 450 will be a bit of a hand grenade if you put miles on it.

Both stock? Yeah I believe it, they are both pigs. Throw some money at the Suzuki though, and the Yamaha can't keep up. With a little bit of work the DRZ is a great bike and reliable to boot. Just realize it is old trail technology and can't hang with any modern 450.

The nice thing about the Yamaha WR250X is how low maintenance it is, and the fuel economy. It would make one hell of a city commuter bike. It really depends on what you want to do with the bike. A 450 is great if you want top performance, but it's not something that will hold up to long highway runs or daily commuting. Some people have had good luck with them and got a lot of miles before the bottom end went, but it's not the norm.
I wouldn't mind a KTM 690 SM, but they want a fortune for them.

It seems that a good amount of people on supermotojunkies have good luck with wr450's turned tard. If I had a lot of money I would definitely get the 690 but I think I may build a 450 for my next bike. Or get a husky because they're really sexy!!!
