right. my bad. so, theoretical top speed on a dyno is 250 mph or whatever. no wind resistance...
top speed on a dyno=useless.
I think the car looks neat overall, better than the C5, except that the headlights are a rip-off of a 1999 ferrari design *ahem* 360 Modena *ahem*. It seems more like a C5.5 than a C6. Still see a corvette as the car you drive when you're 40-60, balding, and can finally afford it. I wouldn't consider one, even with its massive performance, but I'm 19.
*Dons flamesuit*
Ok, so I know that it's compact, light, and fuel-efficient, but come on now...pushrods? there's a reason that the premier cars from every other major automaker(except for the Viper) use overhead cam technology. Varible Valve timing. With that, if you kept the displacement constant, you could get more low end twist, more top end power, better economy, and smoother, higher revving operation.
*shrug* I guess I don't see a corvette as a car for the discerning automobile enthusiast...more like a posemobile. 4 speed slushbox? 'nuff said. The Z0-6, because it is so much less compromising, is a different story(and obviously gets attention from different buyers) but still not for me.
don't get me wrong though, i'm not some domestic basher. I likewise think of the 911 in basic form, or as an automatic in any form, as a posemobile for image-buyers. The Turbo,GT2, GT3, Boxster S, those are drivers cars...Ditto Z0-6 over the stocker.
