is a MR2 really faster then a s2000?
an mkII mr2 turbo is slower than an s2000 in stock form
my old mr2 turbo with boost controller and exhaust was at 200whp, which stock s2000s make. but the mr2t at 200whp also had 200wtq. at around 28xx lbs which is the same weight as the s2000...with same whp and more wtq the mr2t was quicker
cliffs: stock for stock s2k FTW, with very minor bolt-ons mr2t ftw.
the 3sgte is a pretty stout engine...it's just old so engine management could be a bit of a pain

Regarding that video, who knows whether the MR2 is modded or the S2000 driver sucks ball.
A family member of mine used to run a performance shop and one of their company cars that they used to demonstrate their products was an MR2.
I was impressed after driving it. It pulled mid-high 11 at Englishtown NJ.
It also handled quite well. It was also a daily driver and very reliable.
However, I've also driven a stock MR2 Turbo, and it's quick, but noticeably 1/2 step behind the S2000 in every department.

Now, go figure out how many days two people can road trip in an MR2.
Yeah the stock MR2 turbo is not quite as quick as a stock S2000, but a novice driver will probably drive it quicker because it has more torque and is harder to get caught in the wrong gear.
It is also much quicker than an S2000 if you just spend $50 on the Two's R Us manual boost controller. The stock setting is about 9 or 10 pounds of boost but the stock computer can easily deal with 15 pounds (although it runs pig rich). That gives you a little more hp than an S2000 but far more torque throughout the powerband.
Thay are great cars. I had more fun in my MR2 than the Honda, but given that they are long in the tooth, and hard to work on, it was time to move on.
