I thought about getting a 355 but all the horror stories on Fchat scared me away.
the 360 is a bit more reliable but isn't much better.

I have had
F1 sensor just died - stranded (luckily at work with a gate so no one towed/ticketed/messed with the car the 3 days it was parked there). $10,000 to replace.
wheel bearing went bad - some strange noise when I drive - taking over a month so far to order replacement part. Bearings apparently made of unicorn bone and very hard to obtain.
ignition coil went bad after 10 years - replacing them runs $3000 just for parts, not counting labor.

there are two kinds of Ferrari owners
1. the rich guys who buy 2nd hand and have to worry about money, or at least, 5-10 grands.
2. the super rich guys who buy new, often has more than one exotics, and don't really care if the car has $25,000 repair fee.
Ferraris are made for the second group. Mere mortals venture into Ferrari ownership and hope they are lucky.

when the car works, the experience is sublime. When it doesn't, big headache. The problem is Ferrari is cocaine. Many people swore off Ferrari, only to return later.

10/10 wood read again

gave me a brief glimpse into the glamorous ownership experience of a Ferrari (good & bad...they both make the experience special IMHO). The 355 would forever be special to me, will never forget tooling around Beverly Hills next to a 355 and the dude just punched it. I think I had to pull over to collect myself right after. Good lawd.

Good write up and definitely seals the deal that I will never buy a Ferrari older than the F360 (most likely F430). Also proves why the GT3 kicks ass

I'm sure the experience is nice, but there are far less stressful ways to go fast.

The thing is it is not just going fast, it's how the person feels while going fast.
a LS460 can cruise at 90mph and it won't raise your heart rate as much as a 355 pulling driving around in a parking lot.

if speed is what you want, yes, much much cheaper way to go fast.

but if speed with excitement is more your style, hard to beat an Italian.

pure entertainment. Thanks for the thread.

At the end of the day, doesn't seem the cost/benefit is worth the ownership hassles.

again, thanks- i can't wait to read more of your ownership successes.

Will it stroke the senses the same way?

Turbo charged/twin screw Elise, Ariel Atom both are more sensory overload and faster than 355.
