Thanks for all the comments guys!!! The car is a lot of fun to drive and I love the sound of the V8.

I bought this car because of the killer deal I got. I looked at the Vette, the Shelby GT and GT500, WRX STI and the EVO. The Shelbys are nice but I didn't like the stripe job on the cars, looked like a 10 year old did it, and the dealers are over charging for them. The WRX ,EVO, and Vette were fast and I liked them but it all came down to price.

With the mods I have in the car now I have a total of about $28,000 into the car.

Good luck

With the car being so common I bet there is a lot of aftermarket support.

I haven't driven any mustang only had a ride in the last gen vert (wasn't impressed with the quality).

Could you describe how it handles (vs the S2000)? I'd guess with the live axil and the extra 700 lbs weight and the more nose heavy weight distribution it'd be not so good. But this is just my thinking and looking at the car on paper, could you give any feedback about how it drives in your opinion?

I noticed your list doesn't include the 350Z, did you consider that? IMO next to the GTo the Z is closest thing to a Mustang only with more typical sports cars suspension and 6MT (etc.) and can be had also under $30K.

Nice. That car looks great in silver.

Interesting wheel choice. When I first saw the pics, I assumed that they were Ford GT wheels (or clones). The WedSports look very similar....

The S197 is light years better than the last gen Mustang. I was blown away when I first drove one. I had a 03 Cobra and outside of the power, the 07 GT is so much better. The chasis doesn't feel like a wet noodle and the whole car just feels solid.

Comparing it to the S2000 really isn't fair IMO. My S2000 in stock trim handles better than the 07 GT even with all the suspension mods I've done. The S2000 is more nimble, has less understeer, less body roll, and better braking. The GT's downfall is it's weight and the fact that most of that weight is in the front of the car. In stock form it wants to understeer and has a lot of nose dive under hard braking. The mods improved the handling but it still needs sway bars to eliminate or reduce the understeer and some weight taken off the nose which the K member will do.

I chose the Wedsport wheels because I wanted a light weight wheel. The wheels only weigh 19 lbs each. Pretty darn light for a 18 inch wheel.

Overall I'm happy with the car and love the V8 performance.

Thanks for all the nice comments guys!!!

Great choice !! The S-197's sound great and are very fun to drive. I have a 2003 Cobra convertible which is a nice companion to my 1991 NSX.
Nice, what mods on the Cobra?

Nice choice with the Weds'. My biggest hangup with Mustangs is that they have never been offered with projector headlights...and call me crazy, but I'm a lighting whore. If a Kia or Hyundai can come with them...hell, if all of Ford's European product line can have them, why can't the Mustang? I want HID projectors!
