mysterious Acura sports car

Have you ever seen an NSX parked next to an S2000? The NSX is the smaller of the two. It may be longer but it sits way lower and is just tinier all over.

Seriously though, how stupid would Honda have to be to put a car that most people would see and think, "Christ on a cracker, I hope they make that" and then not actually make the car? Surely they are just using this as a way to release some new car to the world, right? What would they gain by putting a fake car in a movie that bears no resemblance to their lineup?
Those were both quasi futuristic cars that were supposed to exist 100 years from now. This thing looks like a car that could actually make it to production with a few tweaks. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Honda is going to wake up and start making cars people like us actually have interest in. But I don't think your references really imply anything one way or the other.

It looks super tiny when people are in or around it it makes me think it is more of an S2K replacement than the NSX replacement

I'm not disputing that but the NSX looks dwarfed by the s2000. I don't know a lot of car design terminology but the waist line or belt line or whatever you call it is super low, the hoodline is well below the S2000's etc. It looks tiny by comparison. The car shown here looks wider and longer than the S2000 (as best as we can estimate from the pics, of course) and it looks very small... like an NSX, hence my comments.

Again, I'm not disputing that the NSX is larger in any dimension. I am simply stating that the small size of this movie car does not in any way give it a nod toward being an S2000 replacement. If anything, it's dimensions are MORE of an indication that it looks like an NSX replacement.
disclaimer: I doubt it's anything more than a movie prop. I'm speaking hypothetically.

Just for shits and giggles, here are some other size comparison pics:

It seems to have the exact same proportions of a K-1 Attack kit car: a 3/4 scale of a mid-engine exotic. And since the K-1 is a fiberglass body on a tubeframe chassis, creating a new body would be a cinch. I can't think of any other car with those proportions. Unless it was built from scratch, if I had to bet I'd put my money on the K-1.

I don't know. Still looks very oddly proportioned to me when someone is sitting in it. I can say I am not much of a fan but that could change depending on what a production version would look like. I think its really just the front that has me put off. I hate that grill.

I think this is a pretty stupid move on the part of the movie makers. Going from a legit Audi sports car to a fictional car made by a company with barely any sporting credentials to speak of (anymore). Talk about a downgrade.
And pigs will fly before Acura makes anything resembling that vehicle.
