plus you simply cannot judge a car's 0-60 or 5-60 on engine displacement alone. these "stat comparissons" are completely neglecting weight and gearing.

Just for you FRM:

S2000 vs S2000

BMEP:
F20C: (240 * 13000) / (2.0 * 9000) = 173.33
F22C: (240 * 13000) / (2.2 * 8200) = 172.94

hp/L:
F20C: 120 hp/L
F22C: 109 hp/L

The way you judge an engine, it looks like Honda took a step back. When you examine the power band you see that the new engine has more power sooner. All of your "hp/L" and "BMEP" equations don't take power band into consideration which makes them very one dimensional. There is much more to an engine than it's peak values.

AW,

You made a mistake in your BMEP calculations.

The RPM in the equation refers to maximum power rpm, not redline rpm.

Ok here are the corrections:

BMEP:
F20C: (240 * 13000) / (2.0 * 8300) = 187.95
F22C: (240 * 13000) / (2.2 * 7800) = 181.81

hp/L:
F20C: 120 hp/L
F22C: 109 hp/L

Why is Honda going backwards in technology? By your measure the '04 S2000 is a lesser car than the '03 S2000.
