Default Need a daily

Reposing from Gallery, accidentally put it there and I don't know how to delete that thread, nor are the the mods moving it here lol.

I am aware there is another thread on this right below this but my requirements are a little different. I've been looking at some cars for the past couple months and I need to finalize my decision. I've been carless for about a year now (studying away from home and live on campus so no need for a car) but now this quarter is ending and they're about to kick me out since my contract with this dorm is concluding. I'm looking mainly for something cheap to insure, livable interior, fun factor(I guess it doesn't really have to be but it would be a major major plus ) Looking to spend around 6-8k.

Requirements:
- Auto tranny (Planning to give it to my brother as a graduating present once I get a new car in a couple years and he doesn't know how to drive manual)
- 4 doors for the cheap insurance requirement and overall practicality (Unless theres a coupe out there that can offer me the same attributes)
- Reliable and good on gas.

I know this is a lot to ask for in a econobox but I believe there are some cars out there could offer me at least 80% of my requirements.

Cars I've been looking at:

- 7th Generation Civic Sedan
- Mazda 3 Hatchback (Probably out of my league in terms of my price range)
- Earlier gen Accord
- Toyota Corolla S

You guys are more than welcome to add to my list, thanks in advance

you can easily get a mazda 3 hatch for that price range last i checked.
i'd personally go with an 2003+ accord just for the newer body style and room.

btw, teach your brother to drive stick!
also, econo boxes in stick are usually a lot cheaper

^^ Teach your bro to drive stick early...He"ll thank you in the long run. Plus cars are cheaper in manual.

Have you looked into first gen fit(four doors, hatchback, tons of aftermarket support). You know the fun factor is there since they can out handle vettes...Or is that the current gen fit that can do all that? (j/k)

7th gen Accord 2003 +.... Roomy, 30 MPG average, cheap insurance, cheap gas, bulletproof reliable and cheap to maintain. And the 4 cylinder has a timing chain not a belt so it doesn't need a new timing belt every 90K... I bought an 04 with 78K for $8K about a year ago, best daily for the money. Smooth, quiet, cheap, reliable....
