Default Need help choosing Radar detector

Hey im currently looking for a nice radar detector to purchase. Im aware of like the Valentine and not too thrilled to drop 350-400 bucks on one if their is a cheaper alternative. Does anyone have any recomendations for a solid detector that is a little more easy on the wallet.

Any input will be greatly appreciated!

Sorry if this is in the wrong section if so please move it

Do not get that Cobra iRadar for the iphone! its trash. i passed several police stations, a few cop cars driving around and two officers standing on the side of the road with lasers and it did not go off even once. My buddy also gave me a cobra one that barely picks up anything.

The Belkin radars are awesome! they have like a mile range. It would pull radar even before the cop is anywhere in view and around corners. Its the 845 i think. Amazing radar and very affordable.

The Passport series detectors are great as well, plus I believe they have GPS updates for where speed traps/photo radar are located. They're slightly less than a Valentine One, I believe, but you are paying for two of the best detectors out there (either one is great). Dad has a V1. My last boss had the Escort Passport 8500i (I think). Both work fantastically well.

V1 or 9500 (whichever version is current). One ticket prevented and it'll pay for itself. I went with the 9500 series for the GPS functions (speed trap marking, low-speed silence, etc.).

V1 may be expensive, but it is still the best. The added benefit of the V1 is that their resale value is incredible. Buy one today for $400. Sell it 10 years from now for 90% of what you paid for it. Try that with any other radar detector.

I bought a Bell 955 for the new family car. It works well and is cost effective.

Ive had my Valentine1 for 5 years now and it had yet to fail me. As the saying goes, "you get what you pay for" and this is truly a great investment. Whats also great about it is that they dont create new units and if they ever update their software (which they rarely do, there still hasnt been an update in the 5 years Ive owned it) you just send it back to them and they update it for free.

The V1 is great, but if you're looking for something that you can integrate into the vehicle, check out the K40 RL360. It does radar, laser, offers 360* protection, and detects sooner than the V1. The price is steep though.

If you're looking to stay around V1 pricing, we have the K40 R100 which is also great. http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/e...-p-118678.html
