Need recs for AWD excellent performer for all year use ? carrera 4s
I recently purchased a 2004 accord V6 6-speed to use as my daily driver while the S rests in the garage for most of the winter. The car is a great deal for the money, fairly quick, comfy but just blends in with the crowd and I hate to say it, but lacks soul.
I am looking to trade up and was considering a used (996 style) carrera 4s, anyone have any suggestions for an AWD excellent performer otherthan this. I would like to keep my budget not much over 50K.

There's always the STI and Evo. Well under your budget and excellent performers. Then there's the Audi S4, older twin turbo, or new NA V8, still under budget. Hope this helps.

I would get an Audi S4 (twin turbo), or a WRX STi. Why break the bank on a Porsche? And are you really going to want to drive a 911 in the winter all that badly? (I realize it'd be fine, since I drive my S2000 in winter, but I've never seen a 911 in winter).
The Audi would be my personal choice... if you wanted to upgrade it to be a bit faster, it'll murder our S2000's for very little in mods. The WRX STi is of course already considerably faster, stock.

A friend of mine has had a 911 4S for five years now, and it's been phenomenal as a daily driver. He's constantly fracturing rims or blowing tires, but mechanically and electrically it's been bulletproof. Lastly, he's able to cut through much of our more inclement weather.
The downside is, of course, the price

Yes, '01 S4.
You can get one for under 30k and put a APR STG III kit on it for under 40k. It's a sick, sick car with that kit. Check out some of these video's...

This guy murders Z06's like it's his job, it's great. Quattro is nothing short of fantastic, it's amazing. S4 is nice and comfy too!

my evo now has 7000+ miles on it with no problems of any sort. An intake hose popped off once in traffic (then again at the track...duh)....and my drivers door rattled for about a month but went away...
