New car dilemma(did I spell that right?)

from what i've heard and read, both cars are pretty close performance-wise. i think you will be content with either one, but i'd still say go with your instinct, and from what you've said your instinct tells you to get the EVO. i think if you go against your instinct, you will keep having "what if" thoughts nagging you day and night which will hinder you from fully enjoying your new car.

I'd choose a STI over the EVO anyday and im sorry to say, if there was a STI at my area for 29k... I think I would of had that rather then the S in my garage . The STI has greater potential with its high displacement and I love how Gold rims look on that blue. Anyways I think I made the right choice by getting the S.

the same guy owns both dealerships
which to me means that if he can sell the STi @ $29,000
he can definitley sell the EVO for $27000

I like the STi overall. I just feel it has everything the Evo has, plus more. I love talking about the STi with all the v8 american muscle motor heads. They can't believe that a 4 cylinder is producing 300 hp and 300 lbs of torque. Combine that with it's AWD and you have enough to blow the doors of Mustang GTs and z28s. It's true that both cars are VERY similar, hell they even weigh the same, pound for pound (3,263 lbs according to Super Street, Aug. '03, pg. 230) But I just feel that the STi is better all around.
I use to say, you get what you pay for because the STi is nearly two grand more, but you get 29 extra hp, 27 more lbs of torque, and a 6spd tranny, so to some people that worth 2gs, but you're being given the oppurtunity to get both cars at the same price!
The end decision is up to you and I feel that you've already made up your mind on what you want, you just wanna see others support your decision so that you feel better about it. The bottom line is that both cars are faster than what you currently own, both cars are highly respected not only among the imports, but with the domestics as well, and that buying either car, you will still walk away a winner, so don't stress, pick what you like, and enjoy the hell out of it!

I would buy a EVO at $27k. Thats a pretty tempting price. They are both FUGLY as FUGLY can get, so base your descision on performance. Considering that the sti may be a lil faster stock, and the evo better handling, I would go evo. That way you can concentrate on making more power while resting easy knowing that you have a great handling car.
