Default New Mazda design language

Apparantly in the halls of Mazda Headquarters, they felt it was time to update the design language of their cars. Gone is Laurens van den Acker "waves" and in is Ikuo Maeda new theme titled "KODO."

You can read more about the styling in the below link.

I think it looks fantastic- dynamic and aggressive while being sophisticated and somewhat subdued. The Shinari would be an excellent car to bring back the 929 (now called the Mazda 9). I see some Fisker in there, along with some Tesla, Rapide, XJ and even Intiniti Essence- good design company to be in, especially if it can make it to the masses as a Mazda.

So it look like "the grin's" day's are numbered and one has to wonder what this will hold for the upcoming MX-5 update.

Thoughts?

I like it very much. Particularly the front end. Looks aggressive and mean rather than happy. The grill brings back some of the previous Mazda look before everything got too "cheerful."

Oh, and I'm liking some of these new wheel designs. These remind me of the 370Z wheels which have significantly grown on me.

That car looks great. That said, I kind of like the "grin" on the MazdaSpeed3. That car looks much better than the original.

I'm not really in love with that new nose (I really hate the grin). However, it's a bit hard to say what this will look like once it's distilled down to a real production nose.

I really llike the exterior design of just about everything Mazda makes, but its funny, in my recent car purchase I did not even consider a Mazda product, mostly due to there poor mileage when compared to competitors products.

That looks great! The grill is really the only thing that is changing in a big way, it's definitely an improvement over the grin. The grin is ok on the 3 but has been unkind to the MX-5, IMO.
