Newer car - 97 civix
I just got me a newer car, its a 97 civix ex b16 vtech for $200 from a friend.
So far the car needs a new clutch, window tracks, muffler, and oil change. Now I do have a few questions regarding Honda's.
The dash has the SRS light on all the time, is this something that I can fix easily or will I have to take it to a dealer to have it scanned and cleared?
I'm not sure if I am going to keep it or just flip it, I guess it depends if it grows on me... Hmmm wish it was easy to swap the LT1 into the civic and the Vtech into the Datsun....

SRS is your airbag system. Chances are the car doesn't have them or they are possibly disconnected/nonfunctional.

The SRS airbag light is probably on from a previous accident that deployed the bags, however the light can also be on from a bad clock spring in the steering column. If you have lost horn functionality as well, it could very well be the clock spring. Ask the PO about accident history.

Yeah thats what I thought, i'll have to look into it. The PO is a friend of mine and he bought it new almost 228k miles ago. The bottom end was just rebuilt last year to a spun bearing. Other than that just normal wear and tear, no accidents. I'll check the spring as you said to see if I can figure it out.
Don't worry I'm not going to rice it out, just clean it up for a DD or to resale. The car in parts alone is about $800 or so.

Dang, for $200 I'd be willing to take the risk of having to fix a few things.
