Thanks guys for your input. And Erik, I know you're waiting for the RX-8, but do you really think that the rotary will be reliable? The RX-7 looked and still looks good, but isn't very reliable

My choice in order:
1. STI - Power, AWD, who needs mods?
2. 350Z - Sleek, power, legendary roots, sounds great
3. RX-8 - History, not crazy on the new looks, wish it was turbo...
And I agree if you are in this price range, I'd seriously consider the Evo...

My choice would be,
1. STi - turbocharged, AWD, DCCD, room for 5, real trunk space, easy to mod.
2. 350Z (track) - good styling, RWD, combination of comfort and performance.
3. RX-8 - I'd take an S2000 over it please! but the RX-8 has a cool interior. (way nicer than the other 2).

I'm pretty confident the rotary will be fine. It took a lot for Mazda to convince Ford to allow the rotary to come back. They cannot have this engine fail. Also, the rotary failed because of the turbos. There are no turbos on this one. And it's been argued that it will be tough to add turbos in the aftermarket.
If you want some more info on the rotary and the RX8 in general, go to www.rx8club.com and do some searches. There's a decent amount of info over there, but doesn't change very quickly since there are not a ton of members over there yet.
I'm going to test drive some of the 8s competitors for shits and giggles. I want to drive the g35c (the classier Z), probably the Z, the Evo (if I can) and the STi when it comes out (again, if I can). I already had an S, and for me, a car is a car, and I get bored. I don't think I will ever buy the same car twice, no matter how much I like the S. And for me, the S is kind of plain jane now, but I had mine within 6 months of the car coming out, and I see a lot of them over here in Jersey.
Good luck with whatever you purchase. One question though to Junk, why does the 350Z have legendary roots, but the RX8 doesn't? The RX7 has been out a long time!!! And the 350 is not sleek, that car must push a ton of air in the front with it's huge flat front face. Granted, I like the car more in person then I did in pictures, but it just feels HUGE to me. Ah, need to drive it, can't shit on it till then!! That was a joke!
ERIK
PS - After seeing the STi at the auto show, I have to admit, it makes me think about forgoing my order and trying to pick one of those up. We'll see!! That's if I don't have to wait a year to get one.

1) RX-8 : best build quality/materials, RWD, great chassis/suspension, best gearbox & road feel, a driver's car, racy rev-happy motor, least power of these 3 cars
2) STi : awesome power, good for bad weather, some cool features like variable torque distribution
3) 350Z : super torquey, Track model is expensive but has nice features, overweight, poor road feel, worst suspension of these 3 cars, deplorable build quality (I test drove it)
