oh, but if i coud have gotten a EVO for 27,888 OTD thats a different story..
That kind of deal is hard to come by. Even high volume dealerships in fl and ca won't give you that kind of discount. Used ones with decent mileage are going for ab
out that.

Minus the interior, it's one of the best bang for buck performance cars hands down. Than again who the hell buys evo's for their interiors.

A "runaway success" with a full year's worth of inventory sitting on dealer lots? Good thing the car didn't flop, they'd have a decade's worth on their hands.

i was torn between the evo and sti, and finally it came down to interior and luggage space.

i know that on dry pavemant that the evo is faster if driven at the limit, but for what i use it for the sti interior won out, olus i wanted to have a car that i could put a lot of junk in the trunk. especially after having an s and prelude.

but i love the front end of the evo, and the yaw control seems amazing, but i would almost never use it. the only time i ever get sideways on a regular basis is on slick surfaces like snow, and i am used to the way the subaru AWD handles in snow so that is wwhat i would want anyway.

I agree with mic crispy, speed is relative, if everyone drove metros a corolla would be considered fast. The EVO and STI is plenty fast, but unless those are your ideal cars (different strokes for different folks afterall) it doesnt really offer much else. The R32, although not as fast, does offer luxury car level of equipment and is still fast enough for most consumers. I'd take an MKIV R32 over the EVO or STI in heartbeat, and yet I'm not a VW fan and usually criticize their quality control.

[QUOTE=Chris S,Feb 4 2009, 04:39 PM]Well, if they sold 100 in '07 and 150 in '08, sales are up 50%!

don't tell me things like this...

desperately trying to resist the urge to have 2 car payments.
Deals are definitely there for the taking. I got mine for $2k under invoice and 0%/60 months, and that was back in September. I did have to work the deal over email/phone and drive down your way to get it (i.e., to Kings), but it was definitely worth it.

I was asked not to tell anyone what I paid (as that was under the best prices offered by South Coast Mitsubishi at the time, the benchmark for good Evo prices), but PM me if you want the contact info of the general manager/sales manager guy who gave me the deal. I'm sure you could do even better now...

The Evo X is the perfect compliment to the S. It fit my needs so well that I don't find myself thinking about the S much anymore at all (which was a surprise). My wife has an STI, which she loves, but it doesn't push the same buttons for me as the Evo or the S2000...

By the way, I am one Evo X owner who has mixed feelins about them not bringing any for 2009.

On one hand, I like it because it means less Evos on the road, a little more exclusivity and potentially higher resale value down the line. On the other hand, regardless of what they're saying about 2010 models, cancelling a year of importing is one step closer to pulling the car from the US altogether.

^ I have an 08 Evo and an 08 STI. As much as we like each, had the MKV R32 been available with a manual tranny, I would definitely have picked one up in lieu of one of our other cars...
