Default NO NEED FOR SPEED

Here's an article/opinion @ today's The New York Times. I'm sure a lot of you have opinions on this matter.

That's fairly funny. I'm guessing this guy lives in NYC and has never owned a car?

Based on those quotes above, I'm very glad I need to login, and thus, won't be reading the article.

Its an op-ed piece - just another guy with some "great" idea to save gas, focusing on speed to do it while ignoring inconvenient truths that would derail his argument.

I'm sure that the Automobile industry would be all for this change

Salesman: You can buy this brand new 2010 Corvette ZR1, it will do 75 mph!!! Sure it will get there in 4 seconds, but still...

Besides, removing those limiters would be very easy.

Then we could wait 1000 years for every car capable of going over 75 to rot away and we'd have safe, economical highways!

eh this is a case of a sheltered individual with some strong opinions and no basis in reality or fact to back them up.

disclaimer: i'm taking that off the quotes i see above, as i'm not going to bother reading an article written by someone that clueless.

The day is coming soon enough when we'll all have GPS chips that we will have to shield in our cars, otherwise they'll mail us speeding tickets as it happens.

hey, you bought a new S! Congrats!

I can't imagine all the speeding tickets we'd get for tracking our cars...
