:123: to the author.

Jimmy - you can thank Governor Wilder for our crappy roads today. He got rid of tolls and cut personal property taxes to get elected, but did nothing to offset that lost income for road construction in South East Virginia. We'll end-up paying for it with a higher gas tax eventually.

Perhaps we can take comfort in the fact that this is unlikely to happen as it would mean dramatically reduced revenue for police departments.

Nice find. I saw a part of that video not too long ago here in SoCal.

Since he's so buried in his statistics, I would be interested to see at what speeds these speeding-related-accidents occurred. I would be willing to hazard a guess that the majority of them happened at sub 75 speeds, on regular roadways, not highways.

Raise the driving age, or just make the "exam" to get your license far more challenging. Instead of passing people who obvious are incapable drivers.

This is the same stupid philosophy that people who advocate universal gun bans use. Rather than focusing on enforcing the existing laws more effectively, they just want to try to stop lawbreakers by removing the means to break the law. News flash: this will never work. Just like banning guns will not stop people from finding ways to kill each other, putting speed limiters in cars will not stop people from circumventing them in order to speed.

Regardless, anyone who thinks that fast cars are the problem is seriously deluded. The real problem is bad drivers (partially due to insufficient training) and lack of enforcement of the existing laws.
Not the same as driving fast, but in the 1920's, alcohol was banned from being sold, drank or transported anywhere in the U.S, but that did not stop people from breaking the law.

People need to stfu about idiots who speed. Just make sure that people who obviously are not fit to be behind a wheel do not receive their license without proper behind-the-wheel education.
