Check out the Road and Track review- I think Camissa reviewed it. I really like his stuff- he's a give no F's type of guy.

anyway, he was less complimentary on the Taycan. The reality is, for $200K, they won't sell a ton. maybe in time.

Well now that the entire industry is focusing on electric, it looks to be the future. That said, battery tech is probably the biggest bottleneck in that regard.

There's no such thing as obsolete when it comes to something that's fun to drive.

Especially when the "new and improved" standard is heavy, quiet and mostly self driving.

Yeah seriously, no kidding. I hope everyone rushes to buy electric and allows me to amass a small collection of really cool gas engine cars with stick shifts and wonderful exhaust notes.

Agreed.

I still think that the solution going forward is hydrogen fuel cell.

Also, as far as fun cars and racing is concerned, batteries won't cut it - sorry Formula-E, but no thanks.

As I recall, the range of the Taycan was 400 miles?

Anyway, whatever advances are in the Taycan will be more cheaply available in a few years

I'm betting the gasoline infrastructure will last as long as my aging infrastructure.

It’s like 5000 pounds. That’s like you talking about you saw some 300 lb fat ass lady and you were already thinking your current girl/wife is going to be obsolete in a few years. I don’t do fatties man. In shape AF or GTFO. EV’s are for commuting, DD, etc. A buck 20 for that thing? Man go buy a new Leaf and you’ll have 85k left to buy a nice car.

I drove a Taycan Turbo (non-S) a few months back. I was very impressed. You won’t be surprised to hear that acceleration was awesome. How awesome? It felt stronger off the line and up to around 70mph than the 991.2 Turbo S I drove at Porsche Track Experience. The biggest difference between the Taycan and Tesla S, or any other EV, is how it steers and brakes. The best way to describe it is it feels like a Porsche. I actually think the electric steering set up feels better than the one in the first-gen 991 Carrera. It’s a heavy car, but I think it could hustle on the Angeles Crest Highway as fast as I would dare. Would it be as fun as my 997.2 GT3? Not close. But the GT3 would be much worse for driving from Irvine to LA in normal traffic. I take the M3 for those types of trips, and I think the Taycan would be even better suited to the job.

For my money, I wouldn’t go for the Turbo or Turbo S. I think the 4S is the pick of the Taycan range. IMHO, it has enough performance and retains the feel and handling virtues at a much lower price point than the “Turbo” models.

Oh yeah, it looks gorgeous.
