It's official... hate to be my friend's dad who's just received his SL55 with the 476HP motor

I believe Motor Trend reported that the motor will be 490hp or thereabouts in the USA while it retains 475hp or so in non-North American markets. It's the same motor, just has a few minor changes.
Just FYI (everyone), the SL55 AMG got a 0-60 time of about 4.3s and the quarter mile in 12.4 (I'm quoting off the top of my head - will verify when I get back home and check the mag again). That's one seriously fast machine. Faster even then the 360 Modena (a true sports car) and Z8 (a sportier car, with it's manual tranny)!

The SL55 is a incredible car. I would love to be receiving one. 
It was on Motor Trend Television on the Speed Channel this week. They had Mario Andretti testing the car. MT's test car that was flown in with German tags still on the car didn't have the 500HP engine version. They said the 500hp engine would arrive in the US when the SL55's are delivered to the states later this year. http://www.motortrend.com/july02/andretti/1.html
