Hmm, supposedly Honda is upset by Toyota stealing the hybrid thunder so what do they do? Release a Prius wannabe in the same year Toyota is set to release what everyone wants, a PHEV. Good job Honda!
How is Honda going to get a PHEV when they do not even have a proper hybrid to support PHEV? IMA is a joke when it comes to PHEV. IMA is just a better design of the 'mild-hybrid' crap GM is selling. Honda execs might as well rip out their FCX fuelcell engine and just put in a 1.5L gas engine instead, to have a proper PHEV.

Mr. Honda said he doesn't believe in the battery technology right now, that is the reason he does not want to get into PHEV yet. Honda is waiting for the next big step in batteries.
Big mistake imo.

There was an article that I read in science magazine about a professor that made a battery that has over 20 times the life of its lithium ion counter part. He's now starting a business to market this break through.
Expect battery life to increase greatly in the next few years. I'd definitely wait it out.

For a company that spends most of its cash in research I don't think they are making a mistake.
Their R&D seems to make their cars uglier on a yearly basis.
