I really like the C5 Z06 since it is not the hatchback version of the C5. However, if the LS swapped FD is reliable I'd go with that. It will weigh less and be quite unique. Plus you can't argue with the styling of the RX7

man...if you're gonna get a rotary car STICK WITH IT! don't shove other things into it. Thats like.....shoving a celica engine into a Lotus, which i still think is VERY wrong

If they made a non-rotary RX-8, I'd be all over that.

If it was a toy, I could live with the rotary engine in an RX-7.

If I thought the conversion was well done I would strongly consider the RX-7 with the V8. Sure the rotary is cool but so is the V8. The extra power and reliability (in theory) would also be cool.

The C5 wouldn't be bad either. Of course there are always advantages to having a stock car rather than a conversion. Also, the Corvette is just plain newer which is nice when dealing with the age related problems all cars suffer to some degree.

LSx FD. Unique, rare, fast and sexy.

An LSX FD is a great car in theory.

Actually I wanted an FD a long time ago (considered it along with the Supra and 300ZX), and really read up about how great the LSX engines were from those RX7 sites, which was part of the reason why I even considered a Corvette in the first place.

But the reality is that FD's with LSX's are 17 year old cars that have been chopped up by someone else (unless you are planning to do the work yourself). It is just damn hard to find a really good one locally and for a cheap price. While I was looking around, just a handful ever ever came on market, and I had a hard time trusting those frankencars.

By comparison you can find endless amounts of very very low mileage C5 Z06's that have been owned by older gentlemen that hardly take them out of their garages.

You can make C5's lighter and big wheels fit easy in them. They don't rust either
