Default Please don't drink and drive

Posted as a reminder to all; my brother unfortunately forgot this little rule and found out what happens when you do.

The end result of an Infiniti G35 hitting a dump truck.

The dump truck driver was unhurt, the dump truck was hardly scratched, and my bro' escaped with very minor injuries but he will be paying for this for years to come. I'm thankful to the inventor of the airbag, the seat belt and Infiniti Engineers for designing a safe, survivable vehicle.

Please don't drink and drive.

That's a very sad looking G35.
Glad your brother is ok.

Most important thing is that he is ok. A car is always replacable. Luck also that the dump truck driver was ok. A situation like that can be much much worse had he injured another person.

Man, you should come preach this in the city of New Orleans right now. Don't get me wrong, Mardi Gras is a time to have fun and drinking seems to make things appear more fun. But after the parades finish rolling they're way too many drunks driving themselves home. Thats just one of the many reasons why I only go to maybe, MAYBE, 2 parades each Mardi Gras season.

Oh, yes, he got a couple of citations as well as arrested...we won't know the full legal and financial impact to him personally for some time as that's how long it will take for it to go through the court systems. Right now he has no car and is dependant on others for basic transportation.

But I already figure he'll get dropped by his current insurer, pay ungodly sums for a new insurer (if he can get one even with a more modest vehicle), he's already paid several thousand for a lawyer....no telling of the fine, rehab/alcohol programs, Jail time would result him losing his job, etc. Worse case, he could wind up throwing a good job and bright future out the window, go back to zero, and become a burden on his family (i.e. me). It makes me sick to my stomach.

Please, please, please, before you get behind the wheel of a car drunk, consider that no matter how minor you think it seems, if you get caught (or worse) it affects EVERYONE in your family and puts your entire future at risk for YEARS and YEARS.
