Default Poll on the Solstice and Sky

Had a few people already make comments to me about how the Solstice and SKY will be competition for the S2K. I didn't agree with them on the basis that neither has the performance capabilities, nor are the prices comparable. A Solstice goes for 20k, which is 13k shy of a S2K, which is 65% of the cost of the vehicle. I somehow doubt, on average, people are cross shopping both cars. The SKY is closer at 25k, but still 8k shy of a S2K, or 32% the cost of the vehicle.

Again, this is on average. There will always be a few eclectic people who will cross shop cars of a wide price range. But it seems to me that most people figure out the most they can afford, and then look at all everything for the price. So by that theory people with a Solstice or SKY more or less had an upper budget of 20k, and 25k respectively. I do not count people who have not bought a car yet, because pre buyers tend to day dream about all sorts of cars that are not realistically affordable to them, but talk about all the cars they are "thinking" about, simply to promote their own ego.

I'm sure there's lots of you who don't agree with my opinion on the subject matter. Try to remember that everyone has different opinions, which is why I'm trying to take a poll of them. If you have a comment, please try to make it constructive rather than just, "U r dumb, I hate you, die."

I apologize if this topic has already been covered. I did do a search and did not come up with anything similar.

I don't think either are competition for the S2000, but that Sky sure does look nice. If they ever get the idea of dropping some of those leftover LS1's in them I have my checkbook ready.

They look good, but they are not competition for the S. I dont see alot of people (at least the kind on this board) cross shopping between the two cars.

At some level, any car is a competitor for the S2000. Even a bicycle can be a competitor if the only interest is in getting from point A to point B.

If a Solstice is only 65% the cost of an S2000, and 90% as much fun to drive, then yes, it's definitely a competitor.

Not hardly. The S2000, while extremely fun, is NOT God's gift to roadsters.

I personally would never cross shop those cars vs the s2k. I would also (flamesuit on) never compare a pontiac to an s2000. The engineering that went into the solstice isnt in the same ballpark as the s2k.
