Sounds to me like it's been in an accident. Probably lost it in a turn, hit a curb, tire and rim began shredding the tirewell...
High mileage too. Will cost $$$ to fix. I'd pass.

You don't have to be a Boxster expert to see this car's used up -- even parts that wouldn't be affected by an accident are tired. It's got a ton of miles, the tires are on the wear bars, the interior and top are "worn", and the list of damage is half a page long.
You can get early Boxster Ss in good condition in the high teens at this point; this one doesn't make sense financially unless its selling in the four figures, and perhaps not even then.

I think it was bought for around $12k USD, and is being shipped overseas (korea) so we'll see in a few months.
