If the stability control system on a car malfunctions a warning light should be your only indication and the system should be rendered useless until repaired. This is what should happen just like with air bags.

Okay, jackass. Please show me the class action lawsuit that has been filed against GM for building "the only known system that actually results in loss of driver control when it goes haywire."
If you cannot locate this class action lawsuit, then STFU, because you're buying into internet bullshit. Damn, I just cannot believe how damn retarded some people can be.
vishnus11: "I read it on the internet, so it must be 100% true with no facts or other information withheld that would dispute the credibility of this 'loss of control' incident."
Normal, non-retarded person: "Well, if that is what you want to believe in your fairy land, then I guess that is your choice."
Carry on.

Do you own a vette?
I think you're taking this way too personally.
Chill out, bro.

The only safety issue with my C6 in the 45,000 miles, countless track days and autocrosses, is that the C6 is a nasty, NASTY fast machine that should not be allowed in the hands of mere mortals.

Yes he does own one. And yes, Vette owners are a bit on edge anytime any one says anything critical about it.
Why I couldn't tell

Correct (since 1997), though the Stabilitrak system (almost identical to Caddy's) has been lightly revised several times.
We vette fans, owners and ex-owners, are sensitive because too many folks bash them for nonsensical reasons (e.g. transverse springs, push rods, or just domestic-car hate). I am fairly proud of the C5+ vettes because they are one of the few world-class cars, at their price points, that America has to offer. I'm not ashamed to be patriotic when I'm not a blind idiot for being so.

It's crazy how only the guys w/ vettes are defending the car. Would you guys react differently if it was a Kia that had this problem? It's a problem no matter what make or model the car it is. I certainly wouldn't defend the car simply because it's the one I'm driving. If anything I'd be more upset about it!

I am sensitive when people take something that hasn't been verified in a court of law and then blows it way out of proportion on the internet. The GM stability control system is pretty damn advanced and it just irks me when someone claims that GM put a faulty system out there without doing their due diligence and spending tens or hundreds of millions of dollars engineering, testing, and developing the system.
GM has put out some crap in the past, there is no doubt about it, but GM is making a turnaround and they still are one of the largest car companies on the planet (#1 or #2 depending on which poll), so to imply that they don't do their homework is just dumb.
I have no doubt that GM like ALL THE OTHER LARGE MANUFACTURERS have hundreds or thousands of pages of testing, engineering, schematic reports that test their stability system under every known condition to man. The reason lawyers haven't been stupid enough to sue is that the lawyers know there are hundreds or thousands of pages of documents validating the system and would be able to prove that the system has enough reasonable fail safes to prevent 99.999999% of dangerous failures occurring.
That is all.
