guess at that level its more about hp than anything-

Just like a lambo gallardo with an audi badge.. a waste IMHO, lambo without the crazyness is just an ordinary fast car.
ppl buy the lambo because of the badge, the design and the styling and most of all.. the name. With lambo being their sister company, Audi's attempt to make their own supercar so far looks pretty.........pointless. Dont get me wrong, the R8 is very well built, with excellent handling and what not, its just that the existance of R8 makes no sense. The current R8 with the V8 engine is way over priced, if you are after its amazing V8 engine, get a RS4, its more practical too. If you are after the performance, get a M6, its much much faster at higher speed. Both in autobahn territory or track performance.

Looks much better without that stupid black "stripe".

the lambo is an extreme car- and its in a class by itself at that extreme.
the r8 and r10 do not intend to be at the extreme. they are shooting for comfort in a hot car... so its a much "softer" lambo!
the r8 is not about practicality (our cars are a good example of this- great cars for what they are, but forget a road trip with luggage!), but its also not about the extreme impracticality of the lambos.
i hope that the r8 will be a car that can be driven on the street (instead of spending too much of its life in the shop like the exotics that i know)-
the r8 is the edge of several technical innovations, and its a bonus that it is one of the fastest (top end) cars on the road.
yes, it is expensive- but it seems to be a one of a kind car.
