Default question about rear transaxles

ok, in cars such as the corvette c5 and c6 as well as the porsche 944 they use a transmission and rear differential assembly all roleed into one.

the question is, how does the shift linkage for these cars work?

is it cables or what?

not sure. either cables or hydraulics.

the linkage is similar to that used in FWD cars.

i talked to someone today who supposedly knows a lot about the porsche 944 and he said that it uses a bunch of rods that run inside of the torque tube. does anyone know if this is how the corvette works as well?
