I don't see how that's even remotely fair. My ex-GF's Dad was a great hobbyist mechanic (he used to actually teach auto mechanics, but never worked in the auto industry). I'm pretty sure he could care less where/how/when double wishbone was invented.

And he's a genius with cars. In the 9 yrs that I dated my ex, I never spent a single penny at a garage. We were always able to fix anything I brought to his house.

Great that you have some nice car trivia squirreled away (I personally suck at any sort of straight-up memorization). But without knowing who invented a threaded bolt, I can still change my own oil.

oic. Well fellas, carry on your bickering.... I need something to read at work.

Look, GM can be innovative. I like the Pontiac G8 quite a bit. I though the G6 was a genuine Accord fighter. Heck, even the current Malibu is something I would NOT be ashamed to be driving - not in the least bit. I rented an Impala and took it on a 9 hr drive, it was great. Enough room for 3 adults (2 of them were girls...) a dog, luggage in the trunk, and finally, an island style range hood (Had to take some of the parts out of the box, but it still ALL fit.

So I'm not saying that GM is the poster-child for crappy vehicles - but it's not perceived to be as exactly bulletproof to current/recent Japanese offerings.

I mean, China is all about the Buick - they love them over there. It's their ideal "obtainable luxury vehicle".

Saying that, I think GM isn't up to snuff. I still put the blame on your average unionized worker who are way overpaid, over-demanding, and over-the-top in expectation. I could understand if somehow the wage would garner exceptional quality - but that's just not the case. And that, more than anything else, is killing GM's mojo. They can't take any real risks (okay, the Pontiac Aztec was a real risk).... because they can't afford to fail and continue to pay the same wages to their factory workers.

So yr after yr, they design vehicles that will probably sell to your average American that doesn't want to buy "import". They make it as cheaply as they can, and hope that the bottom dollar bid from 3rd parties parts will last long enough until the warranty goes.

I'm not an American car basher, but I vote with my dollar. I have yet to buy an American car.

I'm not arguing against much of that. Siliver has misrepresented my views and statements. I own no GM cars and have never owned a GM car. I've owned more Toyotas than anything. I think some of the other posts on this thread have summed up my views nicely.

Silver, perhaps you need to reread your total post, you used it as an interrogative question, a round about way of stating those things came from Honda's F1 program. The "not come from" in the center of the sentence means you were saying they did and trying to ask the other person to say they didn't. In addition to being stupid when it comes to cars you also don't understand English.

Not a single one originated with Honda's F1 program and only one came from Honda. Where did you ever get the idea that they did? BS some article said all that. Either you are too stupid to realize the article was full of crap or you never read it (I'm guessing the latter).

If you would like to have a CR talk please resurrect one of the CR threads. It saves me typing.

Silver HX. I just found an article that claims that you like to bang farm animals. It even had pictures to prove it. Now, everyone will have to take me at my word because I can't find the article (boy, I wish someone could just find that pesky thing) but I'm super serious.

You see where I am going with this?

Seriously, anyone that believes that Honda invented the double A arm suspension or that said suspension was invented in the 80's is nothing short of willfully ignorant and has no business participating in a discussion with people that actually understand automobiles.
