great price for that IMO
it's something new and worthwhile. Too bad the car got 16 MPG on the test (15/24 cty/hw) is not too bad but these times people may be looking for more economy.
those EPA ratings are not so bad, but a far cry from the 35 MPG average that CAFE mandates in 2020
I know this is not 2020 yet but this could be one and done for the big RWD V8s unless there is a loophole to be found.

I still dont get why the G8 GT requires premium fuel.
G8 owners don't have any good evidence that on the stock tune higher octane does anything, but severalowners have retuned the car for 93 octane and are making an additional 20-30 hp!

Is it just me, or do car magazines go crazy over every overhyped american car when it comes out and prints an article like the one above, then later in comparison tests it always finishes 5th?
i personally am liking american cars now, i will get a G6 for my wife, but the car mags seem to kill them after the hype wears off.
Lets see what happens to the Malibu. (Top 10 08 -> 3rd place 3/08 comparo)
It would be very confusing for the general public.

You can get them cheap, though.
I agree, though, that the cars seem to be hyped and then they end up being destroyed in comparos.
For what it's worth, I think GMs latest vehicles have been much more promising than Ford's. That said, here in Argentina where I'm visiting right now, they have the new Ford Mondeo and that is a GREAT car. Looks good, drives well, and better built (from what I can tell) than the American vehicles. If Ford built cars like that in the USA, they'd be selling a lot more cars.

......and they are all made "down under"
At least this plan is working - bringing in good product from over seas until American cars get up to snuff. Lets see...
Vibe - Toyota based
Solstice - Opel based
G8 - Holden based
G6 - new gen GM
G5 - old gen GM
Grand Am - old gen GM
Torrent - new gen GM
GM is phasing out the old-gen GM cars, bringing new gen American cars out, and filling its product line with good cars globally. Bob Lutz in action.
