So. You want to give up/trade in a ~10 year old Honda for a 22-23 year old Nissan.

OK.

I don't mean to come across as a dick at all, but my 10 year old Honda with 140,000 miles or a 22 year old nissan with 44,000 miles? I'm not super worried about it.

To all those talking about parts remember the rb is becoming a popular swap in the 240 crowd here in the us so parts and tuners shouldn't be that hard to find. There is a black r32 gtr that I see all the time by me. Go for it. By the time you get back you may be able to pick up and s for pretty cheap as a daily.

I'm not a fan of the R32 GTR. Are other iterations available? I personally wouldn't choose an R32 over an S2000. I even decided to go S2000 over R34 (lower cost and maintenance) so maybe I'm not the right person to be commenting on this.

I say the only reason to go with the R32 GTR is for the periodic nostalgia and the non-USDM rarity of the car. Modified it could put down faster times but I doubt it would be anywhere as close as fun as the S2000. As for the S2000 being a car you can pick up later, there's truth to that but as time goes by the S2000 gets more and more dated. You might find yourself in the same situation with the R32 GTR in consideration at present, where you're comparing a 20 year old car to more current models.

My 2 cents.

I was contemplating on this a while back. I wasn't sure if going from an AP1 to R32 is either a downgrade or upgrade. You can easily pick one up in Australia for approx. $15,000-$20,000 whereas an S2K still fetches a good $20,000+ at minimum.

I would personally take the R32 only if I was a citizen in the states (due to the rarity). You can always buy the S2000 later on if you decide the GTR is not for you Should get some decent coin for such a rare piece.

Keep the S an swap in a 2jz, gives you a project to build and TONS of POWER. No R32 will beat a 2jz s2000. I'm doing this swap in the near future.

Definitely R32. You can always find another S2000 if the mood strikes.
That said, I would try to sample some of the unique cars you will find in the UK. About a decade ago I was stationed just a few miles from Silverstone Circuit. You wouldn't believe the cars I'd regularly see on the streets around there....it was an amazing experience. Importing a car is pretty easy with the AF. Unfortunately I didn't have the money to get anything very interesting at the time. I'm still kicking myself for not bringing back an original Mini. They were really cheap and a lot of the guys imported them to the States.
