Keeping it running isn't that bad..it's very reliable...now repairs are another story. Just make sure you total it like me...you don't want a half-busted car!

There are some leftover '09 Dodge Viper ACR cars that are going for big money off. I think they're only $14k off sticker or so (listed), but I bet it would be possible to lowball a dealer for $20k off and maybe get a bite. There is a particular one in my area that I think looks awesome:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2009-Dodge-...=item2a08de207b

It's on Ebay with a 'starting' price of $81k and a buy it now of $92k. If I could get it for $81k and get a non rip-off trade-in on my C6, I'd jump all over it. Of course, I have my wife to deal with, so it's unlikely to happen. But man, would it make for an AWESOME track monster. I could kick some major a** on track days with that thing.
DO IT!!

('Cause I might too )

They're selling for big discounts because everyone is waiting to see if Fiat puts some Ferrari into the next version of the Viper. Fiat bought Dodge and immediately told the guys at the factory to put a coupe, convertible and ACR Viper on the boat to Italy to see what they wanted to do with it in 2012. Could be major buyer's remorse for people who pick up these leftovers.

There are a couple of ACRs on eBay with the 'hardcore' package. Cool cars. I'm waiting to see if they bring out something I want more in this next edition.

I think I'd have plenty of fun crushing pretty much everything on the track with an ACR Viper even if it costs more to maintain than a Miata. Speaking of which, your Miata continues to grow in price now that you have a blower on it! You're over $30k into it already if I remember correctly.
Too easy. I'd have way more fun using a Miata to beat a Viper.

Among the Viper group here in KC, there is an ACR...but from what I have seen of the owner, he wouldn't dare put it on a track...and that's a shame. Very few of the Viper owners here are not of that mind set. They buy the car to be seen in it, not to drive it. BIG difference.

Quickag,

Have you thought about just modifying your Vette? Some big antiroll bars, an LG Motorsports race seat, some coilovers, and some grippy rubber and I suspect that you would have all the track car that you need.

Also, you have a Yukon, right? Just drive the Vette with track parts on the street and drive it less often.

I think the same could be said for pretty much every group of performance car owners, and our car is no different. A couple of track whores, a whole lot of garage queens and parking lot posers.

A few ACR's come to my local track, and they're very fast, esp. for stock/near stock cars.

Well, it's unlikely to happen for a few reasons. The dealer isn't willing to negotiate at the level I would want to pay for the car and my wife always drops this gem on me when I half-jokingly ask for something expensive:

"If you pray about it and afterwards feel led to use the financial provisions God has blessed us with in that way, then go for it."

So, in short, no Viper for me at this point.
