Default Really wanting another track car

There are some leftover '09 Dodge Viper ACR cars that are going for big money off. I think they're only $14k off sticker or so (listed), but I bet it would be possible to lowball a dealer for $20k off and maybe get a bite. There is a particular one in my area that I think looks awesome:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2009-Dodge-...=item2a08de207b

It's on Ebay with a 'starting' price of $81k and a buy it now of $92k. If I could get it for $81k and get a non rip-off trade-in on my C6, I'd jump all over it. Of course, I have my wife to deal with, so it's unlikely to happen. But man, would it make for an AWESOME track monster. I could kick some major a** on track days with that thing.

I just totaled my car. I'm thinking the same thing. I have found some used 08's in the 60-70s....very tempting.

we do not accept internet acquired loans...WTF? They're selling the f'ing car on the internet!!!!!!

That sort of crap makes me want to negotiate so hard that everyone gets pissed and leaves. Then I can crawl back and give them a little more money and make them think they've won....and then I hand them a check from e-loan.

Very cool looking car, at least on the outside, but IMO I'd suggest instead going down market to a cheaper car (both up front and consumables) that you can afford the thrash the piss out at least monthly. You live within reasonable proximity of a couple of tracks, but how often do you go? Maybe 2-3 times/year?

I have more fun w/ my cheap on track than I have w/ more expensive rides (plus discovered similar dynamics when tracking bikes). Less money spent on the car means more budget for entry fees & travel expenses, which means more track time and more great memories of hanging out w/ my track buddies.

Plus it's more fun passing a fast car in a Miata than vice versa!

What about getting something like a Westfield or other Lotus 7 type car.

Is a Viper that much faster than a C6 corvette on a track? Seems like it'd be better to mod your Corvette and save the money.

Man, the Viper is sick. I have a relative with a green and black Viper SRT-10 ACR. He tracks his often.
For a track car, the Viper is solid. For a car to show off to friends and family, it looks nice exterior-wise, but the interior screams, "Why pay nearly 100 g's for this?!"
Still a beautiful car nontheless.
