We subsequently spoke to a Toyota official who advised us, "We've never said the FT-86 would be sold as a Toyota in the U.S."

Call the car anything you want and it still won't interest me one bit. In the future, please use indicate that it is a FT-86 thread so I can easily ignore it.
low weight, 200+hp, 20k base price, RWD, reliablie(?)
Isn't that the s2ki magic formula?
Why the hatred?
So is reliability when it comes to Toyota.
The S2Ki formula included being a roadster and damn sexy.
The FT-86 is just another jap car that will eventually be on every corner with wide tires, a stupid sound system and an overly loud and annoying exhaust system driven by some kid delivering pizzas.
Hate is too strong a word, indifference fits better.

It shouldn't be hard for Scion to exceed Toyota brand quality. Scion has mechanically simpler cars and a very limited line up. Assuming Scion is built with the same quality system as Toyota it makes sense it would have better reliability.
