Default Replacing Intake

Wanted to get some opinions about replacing the stock intake. Ive heard that the stock intake is best due to it getting the coldest air but if i would replace it with a short-ram intake like the ones on ebay, is it worth it. How much power gain would i be looking at or would it be a loss. Any info would help, Thanks

The stock intake will not get the engine the coolest air possible. In fact, the rad heats up the air pretty good by the time it gets into the filter. A short ram will give you even more hot air. Now the big question is, will the gains of a short ram overcome the losses of hot air? Don't know for sure but why not just get a cold air intake? There are several good ones out there.

ps. I posted the above on the basis of you talking about an S2000. If you are talking about another kind of car, disregard.
