I imagine the v10 with cafe standards etc probably killing it off, since it's loosely based on the truck motors. Shame. I'd love me one.
Incorrect. Basically everything you said is wrong other than you love it.
LOL!!! This is Dodge/Chrysler not GM where the 5.3L block in my GMC Sierra is very closely related to the LSx blocks.

As for the original content, yes very sad to see it go. Such a shame too. They come back to ALMS and total kill it, and following their win, kill the racing program followed by killing the car... wtf?!?!

And yes, would much rather have a viper over a corvette. BUT... I'm too big of a pussy to actually track that kind of power and torque (viper or corvette), which is why I'm still in my torqueless s2k wonder...

This but for me it will stay a dream unless i move to the US. It's just not possible in europe, only once seen one in real life and that's years ago.
Wouldn't mind a white one with the blue stripe though

A final edition Viper will be a good investment. Viper evolved really well over the years into America's best sports car IMO. It would've received more praise if they had better distribution in APAC.

I thought it amusing to see a TV ad last night for Dodge, "come to the end of model year closeout for great deals" and the first car pictured is a Viper.

Should make for some interesting conversations with one's local dealer.

I'm not too optimistic on this one - the way cars are going, if it does come back, it would have a bunch of hybrid-electric baggage added to it, which just wouldn't be the same.

I agree - we finally get a good viper, and then it gets cancelled. But if you look at FCA's overall product lineup and strategy, I think it simply can't afford the Viper.

Viper started as an affordable sports car, but by the time it got refined, it was overpriced. I think the question is, what could be done to make a Viper that is essentially a dodge corvette, and starts closer to $60k vs $100k?

I'm curious to know why you think it's overpriced in it's current, final form. I think the base coupe is around $99,000 and nothing can touch it's performance for similar money. And on the track nothing under $1,000,000 can touch the ACR.

Truly sad to see the Viper go. Even if the name does come back for a future supercar, there's no way it'll have a row your own shifter and huge V10 engine - just a Viper in name only. A car like this is gone forever.

The Viper is a pretty good deal. Considering competitive cars in a manual for under 120k, the Viper is quite attractive if you plan to track it or keep as a long term investment. The cars that come to mind are:

911S or Cayman S / GT4
Aston Vantage GT
Lotus Evora 400
Corvette

Hemi engine? The development costs of the v10 can't exactly be cheap. Plus, it's tremendous displacement makes it kind of hard to squeeze into most racing classes.

Viper starts at 87k. It isn't that expensive.

They were on eBay recently still selling under sticker. I think they are a bargain considering the performance you get. I considered one when I purchased a Z06 last year. Perhaps I made the wrong choice!
