Be glad it is quiet. The V10 sounds like shit.

inside it's very much the opposite of quiet. It doesn't sound that bad once the cam profile switches. It follows the mantra of many a punk band from the 80s-90s, if you can't sound great, be loud!!

I think it has a unique sound. It's not my favorite, but at my full song my buddy's '13 Viper TA sounds pretty sweet. Pulls hard too and seems to have very similar acceleration to my Vette, but a different power curve. A little flat (relatively speaking, of course) until about 3-44k rpm and then it pulls hard to redline.

Well it sounds like a v10 truck engine that it's loosely based on.

Funny because I always thought they sounded like a crappy old dump truck . No offense, I love the Viper... just think they sound terrible. I will take a V8 wail any day!

Viper = S2000's big brother, in my books.
And they drive just like big S2000s... They are great handling and fun cars.

There's nothing in common between the original Viper's AL V10 and the Ram's cast-iron V10 (which debut after the viper).

I personally like the sound of mine:

Same. It's too bad they made the car even better and it still didn't sell.
I would love that white with blue stripes edition.

It didn't sell well because people are literally scared of the V10 with 645hp. Its not a car for everybody.

It's just so much to look at, so much to handle.

It's like a super hot chick that seems untouchable that every man wants, but 99.9% of men are too scared to even make a move on her, because they are intimidated, even though she's super down to earth and will treat her right if you treat her right. That's the new Viper in a nutshell.

I'm the .1% that will go up to that chick and take her out to dinner the following week. Same goes to owning the snake. Haha.

IMO, anyone who can handle an S2000 on track would be comfortable and competent behind the wheel of any generation Viper. However, a lot of Gen 1/2 cars still have the original 20-25 year old rubber thats petrified and dangerous, so in addition to 4-500hp, the old tires (which would be dangerous on any car) make for the potential of BIG PROBLEMS.

On new rubber, they are fantastic.

IMO a lot of people with the ability to burn 6-figures on a car care more about image and street comfort. With the first 3/4 generations not fitting that bill, I think it was difficult to attract the clientele even though the Gen 5 is a great daily driver with much better materials and build quality.

On the second hand market, early Vipers are now 'attainable' by mere mortals. If you like the car, I wouldn't be afraid of it. Especially if you're on this forum..

I think the Gen 5 viper is a LOT more forgiving than gen 1-4. Some of the early cars are pretty sketchy. The Gen 5 cars are pretty easy to drive.
